Overview

The Knights of the Golden Flame are not born into power, nor do they crave riches adorned with silver and gold. They are forged in the crucible of hardship, moulded by honor, sacrifice, and truth. In a world strangled by the cruelty of sorcerer-kings, drovian cults, and templar regimes, these knights stand as a rare and luminous symbol of good. They are the shield against darkness, the sword that defends the innocent, and the flame that refuses to be extinguished.

 

Their creed is simple, but unshakable: live honorably, protect the weak, speak truth even when it wounds, and die before yielding to corruption. They are loyal to Aethon, a righteous leader many believe to be chosen by some higher purpose, and to the Golden Flame - an eternal fire said to burn with righteous purpose and divine clarity. Every Knight of the Golden Flame would willingly lay down their life to protect both.

Knighthood is not given; it is earned. One does not simply join the Golden Flame. To become a Knight, one must be chosen in their youth, usually between the ages of ten and sixteen, and taken as a Squire into the household of a sworn Knight. There, they are trained in the ways of combat, law, humility, and virtue. The journey is long and demanding. At the end of their training, each Squire must face the Aethon Trials - a grueling test of body, spirit, and loyalty. Only upon passing this sacred rite are they knighted and gifted with an iron sword, unique to each knight and enchanted with magickal properties. These blades are more than weapons; they are symbols of sacrifice, oaths made, and lives protected.

 

In the grim landscape of Zalanthas, where hope is often lost to dust and blood, the Knights of the Golden Flame are myth made flesh. They are not many, but where they walk, evil shudders - and those they protect remember that virtue, though rare, still has champions.
