The Arm of the Dragon stands as Allanak's military force, responsible for enforcing the Highlord's will, crushing opposition, and defending the city-state from threats within and beyond its walls. The army is divided into vast legions, each consisting of thousands of battle-hardened troops, forming one of the largest standing forces in the Known World. However, beneath the ranks and banners, a stark divide exists - the Templars, noble-born officers wielding absolute power, and the common soldiers, bound to obey without question.
Recognizable by their flowing robes and the sacred medallion of Tektolnes, Templars serve as both military commanders and enforcers of law. In a single day, a Templar might lead an assault against a rebel enclave at dawn and sentence a petty thief to death by noon. Their authority is absolute - they do not merely uphold the law, they are the law. Their divine right is reinforced by magickal power, granted by the Highlord himself, ensuring their will is carried out with terrifying precision.
Under Templar command, the black-clad soldiers of the Arm of the Dragon form the city's military backbone. Drawn from Allanak's human and half-giant citizenry, these troops are drilled to fight, obey, and die in service to the Highlord. Whether marching into battle or breaking down the door of a suspected criminal, their orders are simple: execute without hesitation.
A soldier's primary duty in war is to hold the line and perish when commanded. In peacetime, they act as enforcers, ensuring the city's streets remain orderly. While a Templar will deliver a verdict, it is the soldiers who drag the accused through the dirt, lock them in chains, and extract confessions however necessary.
